Ramon Rask attends panel discussion at Lawyers Days
As part of the Estonian Lawyers Days in October, several panel
discussions with top experts in their fields were held to debate some legal
boundaries.
A discussion on the role and objectivity of the media in covering court cases attracted a lot of attention from the audience; the lawyers’ perspective was represented by RASK partner Ramon Rask. Representing the other stakeholders on the discussion panel were Justice of the Supreme Court Saale Laos, Head of the Investigative Editorial Board of the Õhtuleht newspaper Risto Berendson, and Senior Prosecutor of the Southern District Prosecutor’s Office Kretel Tamm. The discussion was moderated by Postimees editor-in-chief Marti Aavik.
A recording of the panel discussion is available online. The discussion was thrilling and is well worth watching, as it vividly conveys the contrasting views of the different stakeholders on what role journalists should play in covering court cases.
