Villy Lopman
As one of the most sought-after experts on tax matters, Villy has participated in most major tax disputes in Estonia. These include, for example, successfully representing the City of Tallinn against a large group of undertakings in a sales tax dispute, or representing a client in the ground-breaking case of the constitutional review of tax interests in the Constitutional Review Chamber of the Supreme Court.
In recent years, Villy has focused on the protection of the interests of local authorities in their interactions with the state and has seen repeated success in representing clients in many heated disputes before the Supreme Court and raising questions of constitutionality concerns. Villy has also acted as a criminal defence counsel in cases of economic crime and represented a large number of clients at the European Court of Human Rights.
Villy is the Chairman of the Tax Law Committee as well as a passionate and experienced lecturer in the field. He has provided training to entrepreneurs, students as well as various authorities, such as officials of the Tax and Customs Board and judges of the Republic of Estonia.
